Submissions
Welcome to Polite Company Magazine! Your source for daily updates of comic strips, gag cartoons, humorous essays, audio and video on the topics of Religion, Politics, and Sex!
You are invited to submit material for publication!
If accepted, submissions will be posted on the website and reside in the archives. Once per year, (or more) Free Lunch Comics will publish a “best of” compilation, with the best submissions of the year included in the collection. Payment will be offered for any submissions printed in the compilation.
Essays: We are seeking short essays 400-1000 words on any topics within the sub-headings of Religion, Politics, and Sex. Any submission should be funny without being bigoted or polemical. No particular ideology is preferred or taboo. The idea is to be FUNNY, in the true sense of being funny. While R rated content will not be rejected out of hand, gratuitous swearing is not considered all that funny by the editorial staff. Be original, have a strong voice, and make us laugh! No X-rated stories please, and no Faux news (we read and love the Onion too, but don’t want to be the Onion).
Comic Strips and Gag Cartoons: Single panel and multiple panel cartoons are acceptable, but please no multiple page stories. Any topics are acceptable from the three listed categories. Content must be able to be reproduced in print, so long scrolling strips will probably be rejected. Full color or Black and White submissions will be considered. Single page “mock” ads and similar satire is acceptable. As with essays, be original and be funny!
Audio: Any style bits will be considered, so long as the humor touches on one of the categories of Politics, Religion, or Sex. As above, the content can be R-Rated, but streams of profanity probably won’t make it through the editorial team.
Video: Skits, Stand-up acts, live video of funny moments, and animation will all be given consideration in this category. Please make sure you have the RIGHT to submit this video (don’t film a comedian at a club and send us his work! If its you on-stage and you have the right to distribute, that’s what we want). Be creative, be original and please limit submissions to 10 minutes tops (longer submissions may be considered, but send a query first and if we are interested we’ll contact you for the rest).
Upon acceptance of any material, Free Lunch Comics will send the contributor a contract for the material. Good Luck and we look forward to seeing your submissions!
Thank you.
